It all started in Eden…..

it all started

On Wednesday September 18th, Eden, the latest play written by David Taylor, had its premiere at Stadttheater Grein. We were proud and honoured that Mag. Franz Kappelmüller, representative of the Upper Austrian Board of Education, as well as Christine Hödlmayr-Gammer, chairwoman of our school board, and Franz Baumann, sponsor and patron of school-projects, attended the show. Not only were the parents of our highly professional student actors really amused, but also DI Anne Mautner-Markhof, president of the Parents` Association of Catholic Schools, and Elisabeth Schwarzinger, vice-chairwoman of our parents´ association, paid their respects to the achievement of our students as ambitious actresses and actors. David Taylor, himself described this year`s production as one of his biggest challenges, as we have never had such a big amount of students in our year 8 classes.

The play`s title is “an entertainment on the history of humankind” and deserves to be called like that as it features many episodes and rulers, both notorious and famous, that shaped our world as it is today. The time span covered by the plot of the play from the garden Eden to the present-day Club Eden was enriched by the vivid singing of well-known songs sometimes with unexpected lyrics as well as by surprising appearances such as aliens abducting Christian priests, a very peculiar Jamaican as well as the voice of GOD. All in all, time seemed to be fleeting while being on our journey through history. Last but not least, let us all remember what brings us humankind together – ONE LOVE, which was the final song rounding off the amusing evening in Grein!
