This land is your land
On Wednesday (18th January) 7A and 7B went to see a play by Vienna 's English Theatre called "This land is your land", based upon the life of Woody Guthrie. Guthrie was born in Okemah , Oklahoma in 1912. His parents named him after Woodrow Wilson, who was elected president in the 1912 election. At age 19 he left home for Texas , where he met and married his first wife, Mary Jennings, with whom he had three children. Some years later he left Texas and his family to go to California . The things he saw and that happened to him throughout his life changed him and he became a singer and later the voice of the common men. The four protagonists not only told the the story of Guthrie's life and the historical development of the USA in the 20s, 30s and 40s but they also performed many of Guthrie's songs really well. 7A and 7B appreciated that play very much.
