English language assistant Katherine Bukhantsov

Hello! My name is Katherine Bukhantsov and I am this year’s English language assistant from the United States. I was born in the state of California, but grew up in Boise, the capital of Idaho which I call home. Around my first year of high school I started taking German classes and immediately fell in love with the language. This led me to study German at the University level, along with linguistics and English literature.
Ever since starting University, I’ve been looking to spend an extended period of time in a German speaking country. My dream came true when I was accepted into the USTA Fulbright program.

Austria has thus far proven to be such a wonderful country, and Austrian German, while a challenge for an American to get used to, is so charming. I am a big fan of ice skating, so I am really looking forward to all of Austria’s winter sports, as well as the beautiful scenery which is seen everywhere I look. Being someone who is extremely passionate about lifelong learning and exchanging intercultural experiences, I really enjoy being able to share my cultural and language experiences with Austrian students and vice versa. I look forward to having an amazing time here at Eurogym in Baumgartenberg.
